Garden Design
The Process
Every garden is different, so every design starts with you. Although each project is individual, we follow a clear process from the first consultation through to the completed garden.
1. Inspiration and Concept
The process begins with a consultation at your property. We’ll talk about what you’d like to achieve, how you intend to use your garden and any particular features you’d like to include or avoid.
If you’ve seen gardens, materials or features that you like, you’re welcome to show us photographs or examples to help us understand the style you’re looking for.
We’ll also assess the existing garden, considering factors such as its size, levels, access, soil conditions, views and any practical limitations. We’ll discuss your available budget too, so that we can develop ideas that are realistic for your project.
2. Planning and Design
Once we understand what you want from your garden, we can begin developing the design.
Where required, we’ll carry out a site survey so that accurate scaled plans can be produced. If you already have suitable plans available, we’ll assess whether these can be used.
Using the information gathered during the consultation and survey, we’ll develop a detailed plan for your garden. Depending on the project, this may include construction drawings together with the proposed materials, colours, finishes and other hard and soft landscaping features.
3. Planting Plans and Sourcing
Where planting forms part of the project, we’ll consider factors such as soil type, aspect and the conditions within different areas of your garden. Plants can then be selected to complement the overall design and provide interest throughout the year.
We also source quality hard landscaping materials from suppliers we know and trust. These include Marshalls, London Stone and Stonecraft for paving and Cladco for decking.
We’ll help you choose materials that complement your property, suit the design and work well for the way you intend to use the garden.
4. Building Your Garden
Once the design has been agreed and a start date arranged, our team will begin bringing your new garden to life.
We understand that we’re working at your home, so we’ll always aim to keep disruption to a minimum and treat your property with care and respect throughout the project.
From the groundwork and construction through to paving, decking, planting and finishing touches, we’ll manage the work carefully and keep you informed as the project progresses.
